I have two amazing sister-in-laws and both of them have beautiful families! One lives in our sweet little town here in Southern California and the other lives in Arizona. The layout I am making in this tutorial is of the one that lives near us.
Conveniently, I am going to use their Christmas Card for this layout because it was done so well and is a perfect picture and memory to preserve!
I started by collecting some scrap DSP I had on hand that somewhat coordinated with the picture and I cut it down to 2-1/2" squares and arranged them in the order that made sense to me for this layout.
After I stuck those down, I started punching hexagons and butterflies out of the same paper using the hexagon punch and the elegant butterfly punch and also sticking those in appropriate places... really, just where I thought they would flow.
I then took some dazzling details and spread it around the "peace, love, joy" sentiments that were already there along with ont the bodies of the butterflies.
And I wrapped some bakers twine around the entire piece to add some dimension and interest.
